If I Had a Hammer: Pete Seeger's Life in Song | Public Library of San Miguel de Allende, A.C. | miércoles, 20. febrero 2019

'If I Had a Hammer: Pete Seeger's Life in Song', performed by Stephen Richer, the banjo playing sociologist, is an interactive musical lecture with collective singing — and lots of space for audience participation. Richer is currently on tour through Mexico with this show to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Pete Seeger’s birth.
Professor Richer has a PhD in Sociology from the Johns Hopkins University and is currently a Professor Emeritus at Carleton University in Ottawa.
At age 16, he was captivated by Seeger’s mastery of the 5-string banjo, and, inspired by his musical activism, became heavily involved himself as a protest singer during the civil rights and anti-Vietnam war movements.
This musical lecture is one of many on several different subjects related to the social history of protest through song that Richer performs around the world. We are extremely happy to have him bring Seeger’s life in song to San Miguel.
Since there is limited seating, please book early.
